Scientific Advisory Board

The external Scientific Advisory Board plays an independent and advisory role in supporting the quality and long-term development of the Doctoral School. Composed of internationally renowned scientists from the fields of ecology and evolution, the Board provides external expertise and an objective perspective on the School’s structures, processes, and academic standards.

The Scientific Advisory Board advises the Directorate on management-related aspects and offers feedback on quality control, collaboration, and decision-making processes. A key responsibility is to monitor the performance of the Directorate in ensuring high-quality doctoral training and a supportive research environment for early-stage researchers.

Members of the Board visit the Doctoral School annually, typically during the retreat or symposium, where they engage with PhD candidates, principal investigators, and associate principal investigators. Following these visits, the Board prepares a summary report with recommendations, which is submitted to the Steering Committee to support continuous improvement and strategic development.
