Highlights from Late 2024

Emil-Boral fellowship for Patrick Jambura-Türtscher

The Emil Boral fellowship is awarded to young Academics in Austria and Switzerland and comes with 25.000 € for the research of the recipient.

Christmas Party 2024

It has been festive event where we've partied with members of CoBeNe and VDS-MES.

Thank you to all organisers and all attendees who helped us to introduce the new cafeteria to how scientists party.

VDSEE Symposium 2025


The next VDSEE-Symposium will take place on 21 February 2025 at UBB HS 1.

Completion Grants
The end is near?

This year the VDSEE wil be able to fund a total of six completion grants, three per call!
This call is open till 24 January 2025 and starting dates are possible from March - June.

Max. duration for each grant is four months

Travel grants
It is a journey!

The VDSEE supports you actively communicating your research! If there is a conference you want to visit and contribute with a poster or a talk, have a look at our travel grants.

Upcoming Events:

VDSEE- Seminar: "Path to Success: Exploring Academic Careers"


VDSEE-PIs and Life Science PostDocs will be invited to share their experiences on academic careers and give precious tips for your life after the PhD.

PhD well-being group

The monthly well-being sessions for PhD-candidates are back after winter break and will also continue in the summer term. The sessions are held together with VDS-CoBeNe and VDS-PhaNuSpo. Their aim is to provide a safe setting to discuss PhD-struggles under guidance of a psychotherapist.
These sessions are free of charge, but registration is necessary.

Welcome session for new VDSEE PhD-candidates

PhD-candidates who started in recent months are highly recommended to join the next welcome session. You will learn everything that's relevant to navigate throught the first few months of your PhD and can ask any questions you might have.

VDSEE completion workshop

This workshop is suitable for PhD-candidates that intend to complete their PhD within the next 12 months. This 3-hour workshop covers topics such as thesis timeline and outline, how to navigate admin/bureaucracy, how to stay motivated and aspects on career planning.
